Registry and Identity: Upholding Our Rights
The registry is used to identify and centralize the families accepted with AOKFN particularly those from Petition 115. The Anishinaabe of the Kitchi Zibi are Non-Status with no current Federal Government funding. We will however continue to exercise and advocate for our inherent rights as a distinct First Nation.
Registry Form
We are currently on tract to revitalize our Nation and community from Petition 115. There are other Communities currently being built like Tay River Algonquin Community and Ardoch First Nation. Although we work in Unity with all of our distant relatives, our Nation is independent from these Nations as we continued a Nomadic lifestyle that expands all across Anishinaabe Territory. If you are a descendant from one of the below Root Ancestors please fill out a registration form to identify and join our growing community.
This is the official Anishinaabe of the Kitchi Zibi First Nation Registry Application. It includes editable fields, checkboxes, and a “Submit by Email” button for easy digital submission. Form may be printed, filled and scanned as well as mailed in to AOKFN.

Background on Anishinaabe Root Ancestors
Kwekijikokwe Bachand/Bechamp/Beauchamp
Josephte Kwekijikokwe was an Ojibwe woman from Flying Post First Nation. She met and married a Fur Trader named Augustin Bachand who worked for the Hudson Bay Company at Flying Post. Upon his completion of work Augustin and Josephte moved back towards Pembroke along the Kitchizibi from the Groundhog River. They lived and moved along the Fur trade route that was used by the family to escape Colonization in the 18 &1900s. This Bloodline is identified and accepted with the Anishinaabe of the Kitchizibi First Nation.
All descendants from Josephte Kwekijikokwe & Augustin Bachand are encouraged to reach out to AOKFN to be added to the registry. All who are registered are highly encouraged to voice their opinion and add to the history of the family in order to assist in negotiations moving forward between AOKFN & The Government of Canada. Any person able to identify and verify as coming from this bloodline can apply. Please see the completed document below proving Indigenous ancestry.
Pierre Pujos-Pigeau/Shawanapenesi & Marianne Bechamp Pinakisikokwe
This Bloodline is identified and accepted with the Anishinaabe of the Kitchizibi First Nation. Although Chief Shawanapenesi is accepted with Golden Lake, however his Descendants from Pierre & Marianne are no longer associated with the Algonquins of Pikwakanagan or Algonquins of Ontario. While the final version and report is still being conducted, the descendants of Pierre Pigeau-Pujos/ Shawanapenesi are accepted as Algonquin Anishinaabe descendants. His wife Marianne is also accepted under the Kwekijikokwe Bachand Ojibwe Ancestry. All descendants from Pierre & Marianne are encouraged to register and add to the families history of where everyone ended up.

Pierre Pigeau “Pujos” & Judith Lajeunesse
This Bloodline is identified and intended to be accepted with the Anishinaabe of the Kitchizibi First Nation. While the final version and report is still being conducted, it is still unclear if all the Pigeau-Pujos descendants are from Chief Shawanapenesi or if all the Pujos were a family associated with Petition 115. As the families had to disperse and many ended up on opposite sides of what is now known as Ontario & Quebec, any descendant from Pierre & Judith with information to add is highly encouraged to reach out. It is known through Pierre & Marianne’s descendants that the family the “Pujos” stole the name “Pigeau” and that there is two families with the Pigeau name. If you are a Pigeau Descendant and you are the “French Canadian Family” you are still highly encouraged to reach out as your story may also add to which family is Indigenous and which is not, but more importantly how and where everyone ended up.
