Historical Protections for AOKFN

Historical Agreements with the Crown: The Ongoing Struggle for Recognition and Protection

At the present time the following Treaties, Agreements, Proclamation and Legislation’s were intended to protect us as a First Nation with inherent rights. However as history would prove, working on a Nation to Nation basis with the Government of Canada has been a struggle in itself. Ever since the Nation to Nation agreement was made under Petition 115 which is supported in the Canadian Constitution our Nation continues to struggle with the injustices that continue through every generation. Having said that, it is historically understood that The Anishinaabe of the Kitchi Zibi First Nation and it’s citizens are protected under the following Agreements.

*Note: AOKFN is currently a non-status Nation all programs and support is a volunteer Nation and no current funding exists.
