Community By-Law Development

The Anishinaabe of the Kitchi Zibi First Nation continues to advance the development of departmental By‑Laws as part of our broader framework for self‑governance and constitutional revitalization. Each By‑Law is being drafted in alignment with the department it represents, and its progress depends on the availability of funding, staffing, and resources necessary to exercise full jurisdiction under our Nation’s authority.

As we move forward, several departments remain in the process of being formally established and resourced. This stage reflects our ongoing commitment to self‑determination and the revitalization of governance under the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (UNDRIP). Through patience, collaboration, and respect for our sacred responsibilities, we are building a sustainable foundation for lawful, community‑driven administration that honors both ancestral teachings and modern constitutional principles.
